Charity (Caritas) is an important part of the nature and mission of the Church. Indeed, the Church's nature is expressed through a responsibility that includes three activities: preaching the Word of God (kerygma-martyria), celebrating the Sacraments (leiturgia), and serving charity (diakonia).
In the Catholic Church, all members are responsible for the practice of charity, but Caritas is the organization assigned by the Church to represent the Church in this area. Therefore, in order to carry out this noble mission, Caritas Da Lat has been:
Building organized charity work:
The love of neighbor, rooted in the love of God, is first of all the responsibility of each individual Christian, but also of the entire ecclesial community. Therefore, love also needs organization, if it is to be an orderly and stable work of service to the community, and that is why the Church established Caritas. Therefore, the Church is the direct subject of charitable activities. Caritas is an organization of the Church aimed at arousing a sense of charity and love in all people in the society, thereby leading to practical activities of helping each other (cf. TD TCLTY, no. 20). Caritas are held at different levels:
- International Caritas => Holy See
- National Caritas => Episcopal Conference
- Diocesan Caritas => Diocesan Bishop
- Caritas parish => parish priest
The Caritas District Representative Board:
In the diocese of Da Lat, the parish priest in charge of Caritas and a number of parishioner representatives are elected to the representative board with two main roles as follows:

Invitation to join Caritas volunteers/members:
Caritas Vietnam is not only a social charity in the common sense, but also a processing (movement) Catholic organization to help believers to live the charity of Christ and proclaim the Good News of salvation to everyone. Therefore, the Global Church and the Vietnam Bishops' Conference encourage the faithful to participate in this activity as a member. (CVN Regulations). Caritas wishes to develop this movement of volunteers and members more widely, in parishes, groups, especially for young people, and have practical activities for the movement...
