Leadership in Inclusive Development

From May 4 to 6, 2021, Caritas Da Lat cooperated with Lam Dong Provincial Association of People with Disabilities (NKT) to successfully organize a learning exchange forum between representatives of disabled people's associations in Lam Dong province at the pastoral center of Can Tho diocese. This was the first seminar in a series of 4 forums to help PWDs in Lam Dong province have the opportunity to exchange and learn within 2 years with many topics towards inclusive development. The theme of this forum was "Leadership skills and association organization towards inclusive development". Attending the forum were representatives of 8 out of 9 districts/members of PWDs in the province along with some representatives from Lam Dong province.
The spirit of openness and progress was the tool (baggage) of the participants (TDV) when attending the forum. Here, they did not hesitate to discuss and dissect the problems the associations encountered in the process of organizing and operating. The participants were first brought back to the leadership "mission" that each person is undertaking, sharing the "milestones" in life that have made them who they are today. Therefore, the seminar helped create an open learning environment among experienced leaders of associations with different perspectives and leadership styles. On this occasion, Caritas Da Lat also provided some "theories on cooperative leadership" and "stages of group development" to serve as a reference basis for the exchange of participants.
On the second day of the forum, the provincial delegation of Association of People with Disabilities in Lam Dong visited the premises of the Can Tho City Association of People with Disabilities. Here, the delegation was cordially and thoughtfully received by Ms. Huynh Ngoc Hong Nhung - Chairman of the Can Tho City Association of People with Disabilities and the leadership and staff of the association. One day at the association's headquarters, the Da Lat delegation heard about the purpose, vision, mission, some achievements and development models for members organized by the Can Tho PWD Association. In the spirit of learning, the delegation of People with Disabilities in Lam Dong province asked questions and shared many problems with the leaders of the association. The Can Tho Association's warm welcomeed and opened sharing for Lam Dong Association proves a community of people with disabilities that unites and develops together.
After the study tour at Can Tho Association of People with Disabilities, the third day of the forum continued with the building of a common vision for the Association of People with Disabilities in Lam Dong province. Each association would return with a plan to change the way it operates and leads, based on the bright spots and successes of both Da Lat and Can Tho, especially aiming to build the next generation of youth. The content and organizers for the 2nd forum in August 2021 were also developed and elected by TDV. The seminar closed with the dreams of each individual that have been planted and will gradually grow up together. The deep understanding between PWDs in Lam Dong province and Caritas Da Lat also creates more trust for each other on the journey and step towards inclusive development for PWDs in Lam Dong province.
