For poor indigenous minority children, from Kindergarten to the end of primary school (7 years)
Jesus gave the Church the mission to “proclaim the Good News to all the nations,” a mission that he received from the Father and carried out in the power of the Holy Spirit. Following the example of Jesus, the Church proclaims the Good News to all people but still gives priority to the underprivileged, the poor in spirit and in material goods.
For the Diocese of Dalat, there is no doubt: the indigenous minorities are the poorest, the priority object of evangelization.
After many years of experience, education is the foundation for the reception of the Gospel. Therefore, a direction has been outlined: creating conditions for children to go to school, at least from Kindergarten to the end of primary school (a total of 7 years). In order to invite many people to cooperate and the scholarship can be reached to many children, it is recommended to set a scholarship of 600,000 VND/child/year, and ensure that students will be granted a 7-year scholarship. A very modest amount, but still enough.
This program calls for the cooperation of priests (diocesan and religious), religious communities, families and all those who are concerned with serving the poor.
The program started in 1999 and has been maintained ever since. In the school year 2021-2022, the program is helping 860 children from 34 parishes.
Scholarship Program “For TOMORROW”
The program was started from the 2020-2021 school year by the kindness of a benefactor who is one of the parishioners of Da Lat diocese. He and his associates with the desire to help with tuition fees for students from year 1 until university graduation. Beneficiaries are Catholic students in the Diocese who have difficult circumstances, have the will to rise, and study hard in order to become useful people to their families and society in the future. Once he is successful, he will help other poor students.
The program started from a modest number: 5 students per year.
